An apprentice is someone who learns a skilled trade on the job, under the direction of a licensed Tradesman/Tradeswoman. There are over 150 different trades in 5 sectors of the economy to choose from including: Agriculture, Construction, Industrial, Service and Motive Power. This is a program where you will “earn while you learn” and in some cases Apprentices also complete classroom instruction as a part of their training.
FOCUS can assist in facilitating apprenticeships by working closely with Employers and Clients. Through the Employment Ontario program, FOCUS can award Employers with a signing bonus to hire, register, and train an apprentice.
If you are thinking of becoming an Apprentice and want to know more, we recommend that you attend our Apprenticeship Information Sessions held in Alliston on a monthly basis. For dates and information, you can visit our on-line Workshop calendar or call 705-435-9821 x101 and speak with Reception.
