Description

FOCUS Employment Services is seeking a Employment Consultant The position of Employment Consultant is responsible for providing employment services for clients and employers. The individual in this position will work in collaboration with their project team and other FOCUS employees, along with community partner agencies.

Position Profile:

The Employment Consultant assists clients to find and maintain employment.    This role ensures successful outcomes for the client while ensuring all contract deliverables are achieved.  Develops client service action plans to meet the full range of an individual’s employment and career goals.  Monitors clients progress encouraging, motivating and supporting the client to achieve sustainable employment.  Includes finding client job placement opportunities and job coaching for ODSP Employment Supports clients, contacting employers, negotiating placements, and follow ups with clients and employers to ensure job retention.

Reports To: Program Manager / Team Leader

Location:  New Tecumseth, Essa and surrounding areas Alliston - Primarily Angus office

Key Performance Indicators:

Customer- Maintain an active caseload of 50 clients

Provide assisted level service to 200-225 clients annually

Operational Performance-Client case notes and required client/employer documentation is up to date

Program Outcomes-  Ensure a minimum of 69% of assigned clients exit to Employed.

Key Functions:

Client Service: 

  • Conduct a brief and individual assessment with clients defining employment, career and personal goals
  • Develop a client service action plan, in conjunction with client, which highlights the steps to be followed in order that the client can move to their employment and career goals
  • Provide clients with job search support including skills identification, resume preparation, interview preparation and coaching, and attend interviews with clients as appropriate.
  • Ability to understand and document the client’s
  • employment-related strengths, needs, abilities, skills and other employment-related factors to determine the clients level of employment readiness and employment service needs.
  • Review organization developed job postings, external job posting sites and cold call employers to develop job leads for clients.
  • Develop placement opportunities for assigned clients and contact employers on their behalf to secure job placements.
  • Negotiate placement agreements with employers according to organization standards.

Case Management

  • Overall responsibility for case management of all clients in the organizational database, including documentation on client eligibility, client progress and results.
  • Case management of assigned client case files in EOIS-Cams
  • Ensure data entered into provincial system and agency database is accurate and timely
  • Monitors, evaluates, and adjust client service action plan as required
  • Follow-up with clients at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months to report on client retention and offer other supports as required.

Job Retention

  • Provide on the job coaching and support or link clients with mentors and coaches in the workplace to ensure retention

Essential Qualifications:
• Post-secondary certificate in a related field
• Computer literacy
• Demonstrated experience in conducting and interpreting client needs assessments, coaching and mentoring clients, working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
• Experience building partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Successful track record of helping clients to overcome barriers to employment.
• Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources and government programs
• Excellent job search techniques including resume preparation, interview skills, skills identification, and goal setting.
• Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct; must submit for a criminal record check
• Excellent documentation and report writing skills.
• Strong negotiation and sales skills.

Additional Beneficial Qualifications:
• Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) Designation
• Proficiency in French and/or other languages in addition to English
