Description

The Department of National Defence (DND) is seeking qualified professionals to join its team in Borden, Ontario. These permanent positions support the safe handling, maintenance, storage, and disposal of ammunition and explosives while providing leadership and training to staff.

Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Occupational Certification

Applicants must possess one of the following:

  • Civilian Ammunition Technician (CAT) Level 4 certification, or
  • Military Ammunition Technician Trade Training QL6A or Ammunition Technician (AT) Rank Qualification (RQ) Sergeant.

Experience

  • Experience with ammunition and explosives receiving, handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Experience supervising and training employees on ammunition and explosive maintenance, testing, repairs, and inspections.
  • Experience evaluating student or trainee performance.
  • Experience using information management systems.

Asset Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification – 3K.
  • WHMIS 2022 Certification.
  • Controlled Goods Awareness Training.
  • Experience with accident or incident investigations.
  • Experience using DRMIS Material Management Software or AIMS.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs and exercise scenarios.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must:

  • Obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Possess a valid provincial driver's licence.
  • Be willing and able to obtain a DND 404 vehicle operator licence.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 25 kg safely.
  • Meet Health Canada medical requirements.
