Description

Huronia Transition Homes is non-profit organization working to end all violence against all women. We operate 5 primary programs, including an Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) Program in which we provide shelter, support, advocacy and counselling to women who are exiting human trafficking. We are committed to providing our services within an intersectional feminist and harm reduction integrated environment.

 

 

Our Anti-Human Trafficking Program is currently seeking a dedicated, passionate, and dynamic individual to join our team as permanent full-time AHT Support Worker. The successful candidate for this position will work primarily out of our Midland office.

Skills Required

The successful candidate must possess:

Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and or equivalent life/work experience;
Knowledge of intersectional feminism, anti-racism, anti-oppression, violence against women, and harm reduction
Knowledge of issues related to violence against women;
Experience working with women of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, socio- economic and linguistic needs;
Ability to provide immediate and responsive crisis counselling in person and by telephone to women experiencing abuse;
Ability to provide information, support, practical assistance, safety planning, resources, referrals and advocacy for women as needed;
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
Ability to work independently and participate as a team member;
Availability to provide On Call support on a rotating basis
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Communication skills in French or another language would be an asset.
