Description

We are currently seeking temporary Labourers for our 2025 seasonal maintenance program. This position involves working a 40 hour work week, with various shifts and off days; including weekends and Statutory Holidays.

Skills Required

What You Will Do

- The work involves assisting the repair of building roofs and skylights by re-sealing asphalt joints, hoisting material up to the work location, cleaning up the work site after the job is completed.
- Dig and back-fill choked drains, and excavate for retaining walls, foundations, etc.
- Clean out sumps, interceptor tanks, floor drains, etc.
- Work with others in the repair or installation of chain link fences, snow fence, wood fence
- Operate and perform minor servicing using portable pneumatic equipment such as jack hammer, concrete breaker, chipper or tamper, grinding in maintenance and repair work on and around buildings and grounds.
- Mix concrete as required by hand or using a small portable mixer for small patching jobs; assist on grouting operations as required
- Perform snow removal duties
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
- Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

- Previous basic construction experience preferred
- Requires the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
