Position Overview

FOCUS is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Specialist – Marketing to support outreach, marketing, and relationship-building activities that increase awareness of our programs and services.

This role is ideal for a marketing and communications professional who enjoys digital storytelling, community engagement, and event promotion, and who is comfortable balancing outreach work across Simcoe County.

The Community Engagement Specialist works closely with the Executive Director, Employment Consultants, Employer Specialists, and community partners to implement integrated marketing initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Community & Client Engagement

· Act as an initial point of contact for online and social media inquiries and refer to appropriate staff in a timely manner

· Support outreach efforts to ensure new residents and community members are aware of FOCUS services

· Collaborate with community agencies and stakeholders to promote programs and strengthen referral networks

Employer Engagement

· Assist in planning, promoting, and supporting employer-focused events such as job fairs, information sessions, and roundtables

· Attend select business and community events (e.g., Chamber of Commerce activities) in support of FOCUS programs

· Support employer awareness and engagement initiatives and generate employer leads where appropriate

Marketing & Communications

· Create and manage digital content across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter)

· Coordinate and distribute a monthly e-newsletter

· Support the development and implementation of an annual communications and marketing plan

· Develop marketing materials and promotional content using digital tools such as Canva or Adobe Express

· Maintain and update website content using WordPress

· Coordinate limited traditional advertising (e.g., digital signage, rink boards) as prioritized

· Track, analyze, and report on social media, website, and engagement metrics monthly

Other

· Participate in occasional evening or weekend events as required

· Perform related duties appropriate to a part-time role

Hours of Work

· 22.5 hours per week

· Schedule is flexible and primarily weekday, with occasional evenings or Saturdays based on events

· Hybrid model: a mix of remote work and in-person engagement across Alliston, Angus, Tottenham, and Wasaga Beach

Skills Required

Qualifications & Skills

Required

· Experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement

· Demonstrated experience building relationships with employers, community agencies, or stakeholders

· Strong digital skills, including social media management and content creation

· Experience with graphic design or digital marketing tools

· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Proven event promotion or coordination experience

· Professional discretion and ability to work with confidential information

· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

· Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally

· Willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays

· Criminal record check required

Assets

· Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field

· Knowledge of workforce development and labour market trends

· Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment

· Experience with Meta Ads, Google Ads, Eventbrite, or analytics tools
