General labourer

 

OVERVIEW YDOC Marine Services assists various customers and clients throughout Ontario with completing installation and removal of Docks, Frames, Boat Lifts, Sea-Doo Lifts, and other marina based structures. Working as part of a small crew, we provide exceptional customer satisfaction in servicing our clients with honesty, integrity, and respect.

 

PRINCIPAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a General Labourer with YDOC Marine Services, you will be working alongside a crew of 3+ workers to execute careful and effective installation of docks and related accessories during the Install Season and tear-out/removal of the same during the Tear-Out Season.

 

These duties include, but are not limited to:

Ø  Assisting with loading/unloading tools and equipment in the work-vehicle

Ø  Working alongside senior employees in completing installation and tear-out/removal of docks at customer locations. Other product includes Sea-Doo Lifts, Boat Lifts, Tarps/Covers, Railings, etc.

Ø  Job involves frequent movement, lifting and bending – must be comfortable working in a physical job and able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis

Ø  Assembly of dock frames by use of hand and power tools (Impact Drill, Torque, Wrench, Screwdriver, Impact Drill, Ratchet etc.)

Ø  Disassembly of dock frames and sorting/organizing removed pieces & components on shore

Ø  Gathering tools and other equipment as needed by request of senior employees

Ø  Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, and jobsite areas

Ø  Read and interpret installation manuals, site layout drawings, and contract specifications to perform work activities

Ø  Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) all times and perform all required duties in a safe and efficient manner

Ø  Assist with service work as required, adjusting dock height, alignment, and structural integrity

Ø  Performing preventative maintenance on tools, hardware, and equipment as needed

Ø  Other miscellaneous general labour tasks as instruction by Foreman

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

ü  Previous work experience as a general labourer or related work experience preferred

ü  Previous experience working with hand and power tools or have a willingness to learn

ü  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the shift on a consistent basis

ü  Work in a fast-paced setting and follow instructions

ü  Excellent stamina to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks

ü  Valid driver’s license with access to own vehicle for transportation an asset (Must be able to meet at shop or agreed upon meeting ground at the beginning of each scheduled shift)

ü  Ability to read a tape measure and have an understanding of site layout drawings (all training to be provided)

ü  Positive attitude and excellent communication skills to interact with team members

ü  Strong customer service skills when interacting and communicating with customers/clients in a polite and courteous manner

ü  Comfortable to be able to work both on shore and in the water as required

ü  Observe safe execution of job duties in a responsible and attentive manner, complying with all company policies,  regulations and local health and safety regulations
