Recreation Facility Operator

The Township operates two indoor arena complexes, each offering a range of recreational amenities, including ice pads, meeting rooms, banquet halls and/or gymnasiums, kitchen facilities, and concession booths. In addition, the Township maintains and supports a variety of outdoor recreational facilities, including outdoor ice pads, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, splash pads, and skate parks.

The Township of Essa is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to fill the vacant position of Recreation Facility Operator (RFO). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance, operation, and delivery of high-quality recreational facilities and services that support the health, wellness, and quality of life of our community.

Key Qualifications:
• Basic Refrigeration Level 1; any additional courses would be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge of facility HVAC systems, fire alarm and suppression units, building security systems and refrigeration plants.
• Experience with general maintenance and upkeep of arenas, meeting rooms, banquet facilities and washrooms/changerooms.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Physical and mental capabilities to perform all essential job functions.
• Experience with daily ice surface maintenance.
• Familiar with the maintenance of parks (playground inspections) and operation of various tools such as cutting/trimming equipment and all power tools.
• Availability of working evenings and weekends as required.
• Valid Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing.

This is a full-time position involving 40 hrs/wk, including a variety of shifts such as days, evenings, weekends, and a rotational on-call schedule. The 2026 salary range is $63,300.70 to $71,261.87, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Township of Essa offers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation.
